De circular economy kent twee cirkels: de technische en de biologische. In de biologische cirkel zitten natuurlijk de echte natuurlijke materialen : hout, riet, houtvezel, vlas, enzovoorts. Technische materialen als piepschuim zijn vaak fossiel; je zou ze voor 100% moeten hergebruiken maar dat gebeurt niet altijd. Het interessante aan biobased materialen is dat ze biologisch afbreekbaar zijn, eigenlijk zou je alleen zulke biorenewable materialen willen gebruiken.<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Dit is het vierde artikel uit een reeks van vier artikelen naar aanleiding van een interview met Daan Bruggink over duurzaam bouwen. De artikelen verschenen op <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/nl\/2016\/09\/daan-bruggink-natuurlijk-bouwen-orga\/\">19<\/a> en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/nl\/2016\/09\/duurzaam-bouwen-horizontaal-organiseren\/\">25<\/a> september en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/nl\/2016\/10\/duurzame-materialen-labels-lobbys-nodig\/\">10<\/a> en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/nl\/2016\/10\/biobased-kortcyclisch-denken\/\">16<\/a> oktober 2016.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ORGA-architect-ScoutingArk-07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9404\" src=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ORGA-architect-ScoutingArk-07.jpg\" alt=\"orga architecten biobased\" width=\"280\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a>\u2018Je zou piepschuim niet meer van aardolie maar van plantaardige olie moeten maken, dus kortcyclisch. D\u00e1\u00e1r zit de grote oplossing in het grondstoffenprobleem. Fossiel is langcyclisch, het duurt een miljoen jaar voordat het materiaal weer gemaakt is. Dan kun je dus niet zeggen dat je in een kringloop werkt. Dat is onzin. Je moet kortcyclisch denken; je kunt hetzelfde piepschuim van plantaardige olie maken, en biologisch afbreekbaar, in een cirkel van maximaal 100 jaar, vaak natuurlijk korter. Je gaat dan technische materialen overhevelen naar biobased materialen. Natuurlijk kan dat ook in bulk. En daar zit wat mij betreft de grote oplossing, het meest interessante van die biobased materialen.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Wat is circulair, echt circulair? Kijk naar een hele grote beukenboom. Je kunt die omhakken en in je open haard gooien. Dom natuurlijk dat je dat doet, je kunt er veel meer mee doen, maar je blijft wel in de kringloop. In de kringloop moet je de stappen zo groot mogelijk maken, je moet er zo lang mogelijk over doen om het biobased materiaal weer aan de natuur terug te geven; maar als je die stappen korter houdt is er in principe geen probleem. Wat ik zie als het principe van biobased materialen is dit: in de tijd waarin je het materiaal gebruikt, moet het terug groeien.\u2019<\/p>\n<h2><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ORGA-architect-Ecologische-woning-Almere-12.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9406\" src=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/ORGA-architect-Ecologische-woning-Almere-12.jpg\" alt=\"orga architect ecologische woning\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Biobased en circulair bouwen<\/h2>\n<p>\u2018Dat geldt ook voor de biobased cirkel in de circulaire bouw: dat het materiaal rond blijft gaan, teruggroeit in de tijd waarin het wordt gebruikt. Zo moet volgens mij de bouw in de circulaire economie zitten. Als je dat dan toepast in het ontwerp moet je van groot naar klein kijken. Je hebt \u2018t gebouw, een deel daarvan is de samengestelde gevel, daaronder liggen de producten, daaronder je materialen, dan je grondstoffen. Als je het hele gebouw zou kunnen kopi\u00ebren, is dat ultiem goed, maar zelfs commercieel is dat nooit gelukt. Ik heb nog nooit een modulaire woning gezien die tot in de eeuwigheid gebruikt kan worden. In de praktijk speelt mode altijd een grote rol. Voor de eeuwigheid, dat is niet re\u00ebel. Of je moet het ontwerp opslaan, vijftig jaar wachten en dan is het weer hot. Misschien.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Dus dan doe je een stapje terug.\u00a0 De geveldelen, zou je die wel volwaardig kunnen hergebruiken? Heb ik ook mijn twijfels over. Materialen? Nou, dat kan wel! Het liefst per onderdeel, zoals de isolatie, dat piepschuim. Maar lukt dat niet, dan moet je de grondstoffen kunnen terugvangen, in de technische cirkel (recycling) of in de biologische cirkel (afbreekbaarheid). As dat je lukt, dan ben je circulair bezig. Er zijn al mensen bezig om dat uit te werken, bijvoorbeeld met een grondstoffenpaspoort zoals Thomas Rau voorstelt. Ik weet niet of dat werkt, maar dat maakt ook niet uit. Als de materialen niet hybride zijn kan je echt wel zien wat het is, en dan hoef je het niet bij te houden.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Ten slotte de slopers, of de afvalverwerkers, daar zouden de productmakers mee moeten praten. Slopers willen ook geld verdienen, in de verbrandingsoven schuiven is het laatste dat ze willen. Voorbeeldje: de Amsterdamse afvalverwerking, die grote verbrandingsfabriek in Sloterdijk, is de grootste zilverleverancier van Nederland. Er gaan daar alleen maar dingen in de oven waarmee ze niets kunnen. Dus als ze het kunnen hergebruiken dan doen ze dat graag.
