Johan Sanders is hoogleraar in valorisatie van biomassaketens een Wageningen UR. Volgens Johan is effici\u00ebnt gebruik van biomassa de sleutel tot succes in de biobased economy: efficiency in gebruik van de biomassa zelf, van zijn inputs (grond, water, mineralen), en van energie en kapitaal. En zelfs al was dat gisteren niet waar, dan toch zeker wel vandaag, in een wereld die investeringskapitaal tekort komt en daardoor nog hogere obstakels heeft neergezet voor commercieel succes van nieuwe technologie\u00ebn.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Proefondervindelijk en op theoretische gronden is Johan Sanders tot de conclusie gekomen dat minimalisering van de kosten van warmteoverdracht zeer belangrijk is voor succes op dit terrein. Hij voorziet de komst van een nieuw soort industrie, die de oogst voorbewerkt, zo dicht mogelijk bij de boerderij, waarbij houdbare tussenproducten worden gemaakt. De recycling van mineralen (die de ontwikkeling van de biobased economy zou kunnen bedreigen) kan dan simpel plaats vinden door deze direct op het veld terug te brengen.<\/p>\n

Dit heeft ook tot gevolg dat chemische reacties aan groene chemicali\u00ebn zo veel mogelijk functionele groepen (die zuurstof of stikstof bevatten) intact moet laten. \u2018Op deze manier\u2019, zegt Johan, \u2018hebben we industri\u00eble processen ontwikkeld om glutamaat om te zetten in acrylonitril of butaandiamine, serine in ethanolamine, en fenylalanine in styreen en acrylaat. We kunnen ethanol maken op een 100 keer zo kleine schaal als in fabrieken in de VS, en met lagere specifieke kapitaalkosten.\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
