Avans Hogeschool is een van de tientallen Nederlandse hogescholen. Deze stellen zich tot taak praktisch onderwijs te geven aan studenten die graag een loopbaan willen in de praktijk. Bij hun onderwijs in wetenschap, technologie en economie werken ze nauw samen met het plaatselijke bedrijfsleven, waardoor hun onderwijs daadwerkelijk op de praktijk wordt gericht.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In West-Brabant, waar Avans zijn zwaartepunt heeft, bevinden zich grote biobased industrie\u00ebn en er zijn belangrijke havens in de directe omgeving. Het grenst aan Vlaanderen, waar de Universiteit van Gent een belangrijk Europees centrum is voor de ontwikkeling van de groene chemie en technologie. Zoals vele hogescholen heeft ook Avans kort geleden een Expertisecentrum Biobased Economy opgezet, met de bedoeling van dit onderwerp een echt zwaartepunt te maken. Dit kenniscentrum bouwt voort op grote investeringen van de provincie Noord-Brabant en ruim 25 regionale bedrijven op het gebied van de biobased economy, waaronder vestigingen van internationale bedrijven als Sabic en Cargill. In het najaar van 2012 start een opleiding in Biobased TeCh (als specialisatie van Chemische Technologie en Chemie), waarbij technische en economische wetenschappen met elkaar worden gecombineerd.<\/p>\n

Een brug naar het midden- en kleinbedrijf
\n<\/strong>Twee pas benoemde hoogleraren worden mede betaald door regionale bedrijven, Rubia Natural Colours en Royal Cosun. Dorien Derksen gaat onderzoek doen naar groene producten, en Johan Raap naar bio-energie. Op vele hogescholen worden momenteel zulke benoemingen gedaan, en dat is belangrijk omat zulke leerstoelen een brug slaan tussen het midden- en kleinbedrijf, en wetenschappelijk onderzoek. MKB\u2019s komen eraan, vooral op het gebied van biopolymeren. Kort geleden hebben Sabic en anderen, waaronder Avans, een Green Chemistry Campus geopend voor open chemische innovatie, bedoeld om het midden- en kleinbedrijf te helpen bij het ontwikkelen van nieuwe groene producten en technologie\u00ebn.<\/p>\n

Jan Venselaar, hoogleraar aan Avans in duurzame bedrijfsontwikkeling, zegt daarover: \u2018De biobased economy is tamelijk nieuw, en wij moeten de vele consequenties ervan nog beter op het netvlies krijgen. We nemen deel aan veel regionale en plaatselijke projecten die de toepassing van biomassa moeten gaan optimaliseren. We zullen meer integrale vormen van aanpak moeten ontwikkelen. Momenteel zijn veel projecten te klein van omvang en niet flexibel genoeg, bijvoorbeeld uitgaande van een enkele soort biomassa en een enkele verwerkingstechnologie, zoals biogasproductie. Om die flexibiliteit te ontwikkelen werken Avans en Nederlandse en Belgische partners samen aan projecten de het economische en ecologische potentieel laten zien van meerdere bronnen van biomassa en een grotere verscheidenheid in producten.\u2019<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
