Als ik een producent ervan kan overtuigen, bepaalde aanpassingen te doen in zijn investeringsbeleid (met betrekking tot milieu en sociale omstandigheden, of vestigingsplaats), zou dat veel nuttiger zijn voor het bedrijf en het gastland. Per slot van rekening vinden aanpassingen plaats aan het begin van een project.<\/strong><br \/>\nHet nadeel van het aanpakken van handel is dat de producten al gemaakt zijn, en daarom doen acties van maatschappelijke organisaties gericht tegen de handel veel meer pijn. De fabrieken zijn gebouwd, de producten zijn gemaakt, en dan komen maatschappelijke organisaties met hun klachten. Veel producenten hebben ons gezegd dat we eerder moeten komen met onze bezwaren.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sander van Bennekom van Oxfam Novib reageert op de <a title=\"Oxfam Novib rapport over food\/fuel\" href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/2012\/11\/oxfam-novib-rapport-over-foodfuel-conclusies-volgen-niet-uit-bewijsmateriaal\/\">kritische bespreking<\/a> van hun werkdocument \u2018The hunger grains\u2019 door Diederik van der Hoeven op 14 november 2012.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Maar de andere kant van de medaille is dat investeringscampagnes berusten op aannames. De voorwaardelijke formuleringen die de heer Van der Hoeven heeft aangetroffen in ons rapport hunger grains zijn onvermijdelijk. Zouden we elke keer moeten wachten tot de schade is aangericht en we harde feiten hebben? Mooi voor een campagne, maar niet voor de wereld en de mensen die daarin leven. Ja, het is waar dat Nederland vooral Europese en geen Afrikaanse biobrandstoffen invoert. Maar in de toekomst komt tenminste de helft van de Europese biobrandstoffen van buiten de EU. En verder geloven we niet in het opstoken van voedsel, of dat uit Europa, Amerika of Tanzania komt.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Een groeiende coalitie<\/strong><br \/>\nDe grootschalige landaankopen die samenhangen met onze vraag naar biobrandstoffen is in vele landen z\u00f3 controversieel, dat de wereld dat risico volgens ons niet moet lopen. In een wereld waarin landrechten en mensenrechten niet goed worden beschermd, is volgens ons verkoop van land geen levensvatbaar beleid voor ontwikkelingslanden. We zijn in goed gezelschap, wetenschapsmensen, VN-organen die gespecialiseerd zijn voedselveiligheid hebben opgeroepen tot radicale afschaffing van alle biobrandstofverplichtingen. Voedingsmiddelenbedrijven hebben ook gewaarschuwd tegen het gebruik van biomassa voor energie, met als gevolg een groeiende coalitie tegen het biobrandstoffenbeleid van de EU.<\/p>\n<p>Oxfam Novib heeft veel campagnes gevoerd op het gebied van landbouw, waarbij vee aspecten van het wereldlandbouwsysteem betrokken zijn. Elke keer suggereren de mensen tegen wie onze campagne zich richt weer vriendelijk om anderen aan te vallen. Dit is begrijpelijk, maar het gaat niet werken.
