Betaprocess werkt op basis van vacu\u00fcm-extrusie, hierbij wordt de biomassa in een speciaal reactorvat onder vacu\u00fcm condities in een \u201dsplit second\u201d tot op macromoleculair niveau opengelegd. Bacteri\u00ebn en enzymen krijgen zo direct toegang tot de suikers en overige inhoudsstoffen waardoor zij tijdens de hydrolysefase hun werk veel effici\u00ebnter kunnen doen. Het productieproces levert hierdoor meer biogas of bio-ethanol op, en minder digestaat.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Betaprocess zelf is geen vergister, maar een pre-proces module die aan de (bestaande) vergistingsinstallatie wordt toegevoegd. In september 2012 werd bekend dat de provincie Zeeland een langdurig proefproject op dit gebied ondersteunt. Betaprocess kan worden toegepast bij verwerking van vochthoudende biomassa (energiegewassen \/ voedselresten), en bij co-vergisting. Naast vergisting in biogas of bio-ethanol is een derde toepassing van Betaprocess het openleggen van biomassa gevolgd door extractie en scheiden van inhoudsstoffen. Er is nog wel verder onderzoek nodig om dit proces in de praktijk toe te passen.<br \/>\nDSD is een adviesbureau, gespecialiseerd in het zoeken, selecteren en ontwikkelen van aantrekkelijke locaties en projecten in duurzame landbouw en biobrandstoffen. Het bedrijf is gevestigd in Wemeldinge (Zuid-Beveland).
