Dat is niet waar. In het Maatschappelijk Caf\u00e9 dat op 17 september in Nieuwspoort door het adviesbureau Schuttelaar en partners werd gehouden onder de naam ‘Biomassa, grenzeloos duurzaam’ was wel degelijk veel chemie aanwezig.<\/strong>
\nTussen de aanwezigen dan; meest ondernemers, waarvan er enkele hun activiteiten met plaatselijke biomassa in verre vreemde landen toonden. In de hoop ondernemer van de avond te worden. Maar voor die paar flessen wijn deden ze het natuurlijk niet. Het Nederlandse MKB is helemaal into de groene economie als nieuwe kans. Het was erg interessant om mee te maken hoe een kleine tweehonderd ondernemers onderstreepten hoe hard zij met biomassa in de weer zijn, daar geld mee verdienen en Nederlandse technologie inzetten, en tegelijkertijd de groene economie wat dichterbij brengen. Hulde dus en een geslaagde avond.<\/p>\n

Niet helemaal, want alle vier de ondernemers die voor het voetlicht traden, deden iets met energie: ze maakten pyrolyse-olie, verwerkten houtpellets of maakten brandstoffen uit jatropha in Afrika, of stortten zich helemaal op alle mogelijke soorten afval, maar van enige verdere verwerking van biomassa tot chemische producten was geen sprake. Nuttig en misschien ook wel profijtelijk. Maar, Daan Dijk van de Rabobank had het die avond in zijn key note speech nog zo gezegd: de biobased economy gaat uiteindelijk over chemie, energie is een probleem dat in principe al is opgelost, we moeten nu de complexe moleculen uit de agrarische bedrijfstak aanspreken. De boerderij wordt raffinaderij (mooi gezegd overigens, die houden we er in) en daarmee bouwen we een hernieuwbare, groene chemie op.<\/p>\n

Jammer dus. Een gemiste kans? Ja en nee. Die groene chemie heeft nog een lange weg voor zich. Je moet er dus op blijven hameren bij elke gelegenheid. Dit was zo’n gelegenheid. Aan de andere kant is het hartverwarmend als je een stel ondernemers zo enthousiast ziet over iets dat jou ook na aan het hart ligt. Met veel gescheld op de overheid en haar trage vergunningenbeleid.
