Evolved by Nature<\/a> heeft pure vloeibare zijde ontwikkeld; beter gezegd: zijde in oplossing. Met deze stof kunnen garens worden bedekt in zijde. Ze krijgen dan de eigenschappen die zijde zo aantrekkelijk maken: zacht aan de huid en duurzaam. Dit product is omarmd door Chanel, zoals de Biofuels Digest<\/a> heeft bericht.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Een goed alternatief<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Evolved by Nature noemt zijn product Activated Silk. Het kan synthetische polymeren en plastics vervangen bij de productie van kleding en verzorgingsproducten. In de kledingindustrie worden garens vaak gecoat met onduurzame stoffen. Yogabroeken worden bijvoorbeeld gecoat met siliconen om ze glad te maken. Die siliconen worden opgelost in giftige oplosmiddelen. Wol wordt gecoat met plastic om het niet te laten krimpen in de was. Maar wol en zijde lijken erg op elkaar, waardoor wol gemakkelijk gecoat kan worden met zijde. Hierdoor breken woldraden minder, en laten ze minder deeltjes los.<\/p>\n

Activated Silk kan in tientallen moleculair verschillende vormen worden gemaakt, afhankelijk van het gewenste doel. Zijde is erg moeilijk te bewerken. De eiwitten vouwen zich gemakkelijk, waardoor de stof niet meer bruikbaar is. In het proces van Evolved by Nature wordt dit voork\u00f3men. De vloeibare zijde kan worden gebruikt om materialen als nylon en katoen om de buitenkant zijdeachtig te maken. Hij kan ook worden gebruikt in verdorgingsproducten en ter vervanging van plastics in kunstleer.<\/p>\n

Vloeibare zijde, een natuurlijk product<\/strong><\/h2>\n

De vloeibare zijde wordt gemaakt uit zijderupsen. Het bedrijf heeft voor zijn proces geen intacte draden nodig \u2013 het kan cocons gebruiken die anders zouden zijn afgedankt. Dan lossen ze de zijde op in een zoutoplossing. De ruwe vezel lost op, het zout wordt verwijderd, en tenslotte blijft zuivere zijde in oplossing over. Deze vloeibare zijde is een zeer veelzijdige grondstof. Het kan worden aangepast aan de wensen van de klant. Het is niet giftig (bevat geen BPA, ftalaten, formaldehyde en zo), het is gemaakt van biologisch geproduceerde cocons en duurzaam gemaakt.<\/p>\n

Deze vloeibare zijde vervangt vaak gebruikte afwerkmiddelen op materialen, van nylon tot katoen en polyester. De stoffen die ermee gemaakt worden drogen sneller, herstellen zich goed van rekken en slijten nauwelijks. Ze kunnen duurzamer worden gemaakt, verantwoordelijker worden gebruikt en veiliger worden gerecycled.<\/p>\n
