Het initiatief voor de aanschaf van elf van deze banken, gemaakt van een composiet van lichtgewicht beton met vezels van olifantsgras, kwam van de gemeente Bergen op Zoom, die daarmee voor dit product als \u2018launching customer\u2019 fungeerde. Het is een voorbeeld dat gevolgd zou moeten worden, hoewel de medaille ook een keerzijde kan hebben.<\/strong><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10672\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10672\" style=\"width: 278px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/face-skeptical-Bob-Smith.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-10672\" src=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/face-skeptical-Bob-Smith.jpeg\" alt=\"face-skeptical - Bob Smith\" width=\"288\" height=\"198\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10672\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Foto: FreeImages.com\/Bob Smith<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Voor het algemene publiek zijn bio-based producten niet erg bekend. Parkbankjes zijn echter wel erg zichtbaar, en dit is de valkuil: het publiek kan eenvoudig begrijpen dat parkbankjes bio-based zijn, maar net zo gemakkelijk kan het publiek concluderen dat bio-based dus wordt belichaamd door parkbankjes.<\/p>\n<h2>Onvolledige communicatie<\/h2>\n<p>Dit is niet zo gezocht als het lijkt. Jaren geleden beschouwde het grote publiek bermpaaltjes van gerecycled plastic als sprekend voorbeeld van recycling-technologie, en het publiek was niet onder de indruk. Het resultaat: een gebrek aan interesse in recycling en een nog steeds voortdurend gebrek aan kennis van de voortgang in recycling-technologie en toepassingen.<\/p>\n<p>De boosdoener? Onvolledige communicatie. De parkbank wordt als een succesvol bio-based product getoond, prachtig ontworpen, comfortabel, robuust en gefabriceerd door een lokale producent. Het probleem is dat al deze zaken ook op een gewone houten parkbank toepasbaar zijn en een dergelijke boodschap legt niet de biotech voortgang uit die in deze nieuwe bankjes verwerkt is. De uitgekiende onderliggende technologie om het gewenste composiet te produceren wordt in de boodschap niet genoemd, noch de slimme innovatieve ontwikkelingen, noch al de inspanningen nodig om een product te verkrijgen dat aan een breed pakket aan eisen voldoet: in het algemeen, de voortgang van bio-based technologie.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_10675\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10675\" style=\"width: 278px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/shortcut-Josh-Klute-640x480.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-10675 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.biobasedpress.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/shortcut-Josh-Klute-640x480.jpeg\" alt=\"shortcut-Josh Klute bio-based parkbanken\" width=\"288\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-10675\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Foto: http:\/\/freeimages.com\/Josh Klute<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Kennis over noodzakelijke verdere ontwikkeling is doorslaggevend bij de beeldvorming bij het publiek van de bio-based economie. In het vertalen van technologische biotech ontwikkelingen naar bio-based prestaties gaat al deze informatie verloren. De betekenis van bio-based parkbanken als basis voor verdere ontwikkelingen wordt niet uitgelicht; het gebruik van bio-based vezels in meer geavanceerde toepassingen zoals bruggen, het opstellen van nieuwe technische richtlijnen, betere kennis van de achteruitgang van bio-based vezels, ervaring op het vlak van hergebruik van bio-based composiet materialen, of het verbeteren van de binding tussen vezels en beton of harsen.<\/p>\n<h2>Vertel hoe goed je bent<\/h2>\n<p>Ik ben ervan overtuigd dat het publiek beter en diepgaander over toepassingen van bio-based technologie moet worden voorgelicht. Om een bredere interesse in bio-based mogelijkheden te bereiken is het steeds maar weer herhalen van de milieu-boodschap niet genoeg. Ook het in de etalage zetten van bio-based parkbanken volstaat niet. Het publiek krijgt alleen maar begrip voor bio-based parkbanken indien je diepgaander aandacht aan het onderwerp besteed.<\/p>\n<p>Vertel hoe goed je bent: technologie-eigenaren en ontwikkelaars zouden op hun prestaties moeten ingaan en deze voor een breed publiek begrijpelijk en helder maken. En het zou een dure plicht voor communicatie professionals moeten zijn over bio-based resultaten te berichten om de betekenis hiervan te benadrukken.<\/p>\n<p>Interessant om verder te lezen over het gebruik van bio-composieten en de stand van de technologie is een Open Access study door Dr. Katrin Tazelaar van Hogeschool InHolland.
