Value of Plant Science Research:

The scope of plant science involves developing molecular techniques for genetic engineering to ecological research which ultimately contributes to the fundamental knowledge of basic biological processes related to development and health and sustainable production of more healthy foods, flowers and high-value bio-based products.

Research in plant biology has contributed much to our understanding of fundamental biological processes and will factor importantly in our ability to feed a growing population. The Plant Science Research Summit is designed to engage the broad plant science research community in developing a consensus plan to invigorate and guide plant science research over the next decade.

Why Montreal?

Montreal is the most populous municipality in the province of Quebec and the second-most populous in Canada. Originally called Ville-Marie, or “City of Mary,” and is built around Mont Royal, from where the city received its name. Montreal is the second largest French speaking city in the world, after Paris.
