More and more stakeholders are interested in CCU’s fast-moving, industry-driven innovation area. Several companies showed their interest on getting involved into this field and a lot of pilot, demonstration and even commercial plants were planned and built in the last twelve months. In addition, the political framework conditions for CCU have also improved considerably in recent months: The new version of the Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), which will apply from 2020, opens the doors for all CO₂ uses, including the use of industrial exhaust gases for all types of fuels. There are also discussions at the highest political level in the Emission Trading System (ETS) about recognising CO₂ use. Great visions become a real potential!

Leading players will showcase enhanced and new applications using CO₂ as feedstock. The main topics of the conference are the new political framework, renewable energy and hydrogen production, artificial photosynthesis, carbon capture technologies as well as CO₂-based fuels for transport and aviation, chemicals and polymers as well as mineralisation and proteins.

For the first time the “Innovation Award on the best CO₂-based product or technology 2019” will be granted at the conference to the young, innovative CCU industry for finding suitable applications and markets for CO₂ based products and technologies.
