SUMMARY:5th Workshop on Analytical Metabolomics
DESCRIPTION:It is my great pleasure to invite you to the 5th Metabolomics Workshop to be held in Thessaloniki\, Greece from the 13th till the 17th of May 2019. The meeting is the continuation of successful meetings in Thessaloniki (2008 and 2016)\, Athens (2012) and Patras (2014). \nPast meetings featured renown invited speakers from academia\, industry and the regulators advocating and debating on the application of holistic analytical approaches in biomarker discovery in life\, plant and food sciences. \nWe intend to bring the same high level of lectures to further promote knowledge on this upcoming field. \nThe potential and the benefits of applying metabolomics in life and plant/food/nutrition sciences will be the focus of the workshop. Selected examples include (but are not limited to): \n\nAnalytical Technologies for Metabolic Profiling: LC-MS\, GC-MS\, NMR\nBiomarker Discovery: Disease\, Drug Efficacy\, Toxicity\, Physical Exercise and more\nFood authenticity/geographical origin verification\nInvestigation of gut microbiota host-guest interactions\nInformatics\, Chemometrics\, Validation\n\n  \nThe workshop is organised as 3 day hands-on course (13-15 May\, Aristotle University Interdisciplinary Research Centre) that will accommodate up to 12 researchers in first-come\, first-serve basis and will provide exposure to technology\, live interaction\, and experimental training in small groups through tutorial sessions to promote in-depth understanding of theory and practice. \nSubsequently a mini-conference is organised at the Aristotle University Research Dissemination Centre (http://kedea.rc.auth.gr/)\, 16-17 May. \nDevelopments on analytical methods\, data treatment strategies and tools will be illustrated.
